Announcement: 12th District Convention

From the 12th District:
The GOP 12th Congressional District Convention will be held in the 2nd floor Commissioners Room of the Rowan County Government Building, 130 W Innes St., Salisbury NC., on April 24th, 2012.

We will have a catered quick supper to start at 6:15pm, meeting to convene promptly at 7pm. I want to conclude the meeting no later than 8:30 so I am going to control the meeting and move the pace along.  We have to clean up the room and release it by 9pm.  Remember we will elect new district officers, at-large members, delegates, alternates and presidential elector, and each of our congressional district candidates will need 5 minutes with the convention membership.

Credentials will be set up and ready by 6:15pm, check in to end at 6:50pm promptly. This will give the committee members about 20 minutes to compile the report before it is presented to the convention body for approval. We will have a literature table, but please let us know who/what organization/campaign is placing out literature. We are not trying to censor, but to control the convention flow.

This year we are also going to require all members wishing to be considered as RNC delegates and alternates to submit a short resume to an impartial Delegate Committee no later than one week before convention. The resume should detail the member’s political history and experience, a statement about why they want to represent the 12th District at the RNC Convention and detail their convention agenda, and what information/material/networking they will bring back to the 12th Executive Committee to assist us with the 2012 campaign, and any other related business information the member wishes to share. The committee will not make recommendations, but will make copies of each resume available to the convention members. This will allow the convention body to make an informed vote and not just a warm body vote.

Convention Attendance is Vital in ’12

from Nathan Tabor – Party Unity

Dear Forsyth County Republican, this morning, I made the decision to seek the sixth congressional seat, currently occupied by Congressman Howard Coble. This decision came after much prayer, discussion with my family and careful consideration of the issues.  There is an issue with my filing that will not be resolved until March 6th.  However, I’m moving forward with my campaign and believe this issue will be resolved.

In the spirit of party unity I am tendering my notice of resignation effective Saturday, March 3rd, 2012.

I have enjoyed my time as Chairman.  We have done many great things together!    We beat CHANGE in 2009!  We made over 350k calls in 2012!  We had Congressman Joe Wilson, Gov. Mike Huckabee and many others do fundraising for us.

We must organize and win in 2012!

On Saturday the party will need to elect a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman and a Treasurer.

Conservatively yours,
Nathan Tabor
Chairman, Forsyth County Republican Party

Want to be a National GOP delegate?

Have you ever wondered how folks were lucky enough to attend one of those televised National Conventions?  Have you ever wanted to go?  It’s easier than you might think.

Your Path to the National GOP Convention

Many people don’t know how easy it is to reach the State and National Republican Conventions as a delegate.  There are a few steps you must follow, here are some tips and links below to help you.

Basic Steps

  1. Attend your local Precinct Meeting/Convention (In Forsyth County, it is 3/3/12 .. RSVP on Facebook.).  This is the most important first step entitling you to be a delegate to your county convention!
  2. Attend your County Convention as a delegate (you must attend the Precinct Meeting to be eligible).  This confirms your eligibility to be a delegate to the State Convention.
  3. Attend your Congressional District Convention.  Three Delegates & Alternates are elected in each district.
  4. Attend your State Convention as a delegate (you must attend your County Convention to be eligible). The balance of state delegates are elected here.
Other Tips
  • There is no cost to attend our local Precinct Meeting/Convention and it is the single best starting point in your quest to influence the political landscape.
  • There is usually a cost associated with attending Conventions above the county level, that will be announced on our site when the information is available.
  • Time Commitments: Our Precinct Meeting/Convention take a few hours because we do it all the same day, the State Convention is held over two days, and the National Convention can take 4-5 days.
Forsyth Dates:
  • March 3- Forsyth County GOP Precinct Meetings and Convention- RSVP on Facebook. Not on Facebook? Inform us of your intentions to attend the county convention through our contact form.
